Don’t miss this first ever evening of storytelling with a local flair, featuring six storytellers and a master of ceremonies, all with ties to Swampscott. Legendary sportscaster Mike Lynch and news anchor and podcaster Kim Carrigan will emcee, and storytellers will tell a true personal story related to the theme
“Changing Tides.”
Each curated 10-minute story may be funny, sad, or some combination of the two. The event is modeled after The Moth storytelling collective but will be unique to Swampscott and its community. Other storytellers include Anne Driscoll, Swampscott Tides president and Moth Mainstage storyteller, Misha Trubnikov, a Jewish refugee who moved to Swampscott with his family from Ukraine at age 9 and has told more than two dozen Moth stories, John Ingalls, a member of two of Swampscott’s founding families (the Ingalls and the Palmers) and former restauranteur and a commercial fisherman, and Enzo Silon Surin, a Haitian-born award-winning poet, educator, author and publisher.
The event will take place at Swampscott High School beginning at 7 pm. All proceeds will benefit the launch of the Swampscott Tides, an online news outlet offering coverage of local government, schools, sports, business, culture and events. For more information, visit swampscotttides.org.
